“When God calls you to show up, he does not expect you to come with everything intact. He’s not waiting for you to be perfect. If you were perfect, you wouldn’t need him. You grow while you go, and eventually the reward outweighs the fear.”
—Kishea Boyd
Some clarity cannot be unseen. When God reveals direction, returning to comfort starts to feel heavier than the risk of moving forward. Staying in limbo slowly drains momentum, purpose, and trust.
In this conversation, Keisha addresses those who are not exploring faith casually but are wrestling with a specific call they have already acknowledged. She shares how obedience unfolds through movement, why fear does not disqualify us, and how delay quietly shifts what we were meant to steward.
Topics include:
- The hidden cost of waiting too long
- Why God does not require us to arrive whole
- How fear distorts timing and identity
- The danger of shrinking after hearing no
- Understanding assignment and alignment
- Why obedience is built on trust, not certainty
- When it is time to stop revisiting the same question

Kishea Boyd is a woman whose journey began not with triumph, but with a search—for identity, purpose, and the heart of God in every season. After serving over 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, where she honed resilience and leadership, she found her true strength not in uniform, but in faith. Rededicating her life to Christ in 1999 marked a turning point, leading her into ministry, mentorship, and a deeper understanding of who she was called to be. Through the joys of family life with her husband, Quinton, and their son, Kameron, and through the challenges that shaped her, Kishea has learned that God’s love never lets go. Today, she lives to help others rediscover identity, healing, and purpose through Him.
Transcipt:
Hey, sis, I see you. The strong one, the faithful one. The woman who keeps showing up for everyone else while quietly wondering if anyone still sees her. You can breathe now. You’re safe here.
I’m Kishea Boyd, The Identity Midwife. This podcast was created to help you rediscover who you are right in the middle of real life. Here, we talk about faith, healing, identity, and the gentle work of becoming. You don’t have to fix a thing, just lean in. You’ve been located.
Kishea Boyd: Hey, this is Kishea Boyd, the Identity Midwife, and you’re listening to The Identity Midwife Podcast. I’m really glad you’re here. If you’ve been listening from Episode 9 into now, then you already know this wasn’t accidental. In Episode 9, we talked about realizing you’ve been around the same mountain long enough. In Episode 10, we talked about why obedience feels uncomfortable. In Episode 11, we talked about shedding old identities that no longer fit. And today we’re at the decision point.
This is Episode 12, and if this episode is for you, you already know. So let’s talk now. Let me just say this up front, this episode is not for everyone. It’s not for spectators, it’s not for the curious. It’s not for people who just like good content. This episode is for the woman who has been wrestling quietly, the one who keeps circling back to the same questions, the one who can’t unsee what God has shown her. If that’s not you, you’re still welcome here. Listen, learn, share this with someone who needs it. But this episode is for the ones who know. I’m not looking for a crowd. I’m listening for recognition.
The 12 are not impressed by hype. They don’t need convincing. They don’t need pressure. They’ve already felt the pool. They’re the ones who keep waking up with the same nudge. Feel restless, even when life looks fine. Know there’s more, but can’t go back to who they were. They’re tired of circling, tired of postponing, tired of negotiating with obedience. Let me locate you. You’ve already tried to talk yourself out of this. You’ve already said, maybe later. Let me pray about it more. I’ll wait until things slow down. But things will never slow down, and the nudge hasn’t gone away. You’re not confused. You’re discerning and resistant at the same time, and that tension is costing you peace.
Let me talk to you for a minute, because this is usually the part where someone says, okay, okay, this sounds good. But I need to talk to my husband about it. And listen, I’m not dishonor in marriage. I believe in covering, I believe in wisdom. But let’s be honest, a lot of times, that’s not discernment, that’s backpedaling. That’s you stepping back into your comfort zone, because obedience just got real. And here’s what I know to be true, you’ll be the same one calling me back six months from now or next year. Even in the same season saying, I wish I would have moved then. Don’t waste time, because delay doesn’t just affect you. It affects the people you’re called to.
Let me free you from something. When God calls you to show up, he does not expect you to come with everything intact. He’s not waiting on you to be perfect. If you were perfect, you wouldn’t need him. That’s why this is a daily walk. It’s a journey, not a sprint, not a performance. You grow while you go. And eventually, the reward outweighs the fear. Here’s the part people don’t like to hear. If you keep delaying, somebody else will help the people you were called to, but they won’t have your voice, your urgency, your anointing, the octave only God put on the inside of you. They won’t carry the same burden, removing yoke, destroying authority that God specifically entrusted to you, and that’s what matters.
Psalm 139 tells us something powerful. God already wrote the book. The blueprint already exists, which means God already knew who would be waiting on you. He already knew who needed the missing piece you carry, who would come into alignment because you showed up. This is a domino effect, but the dominoes don’t fall if you don’t push the first one.
***If your heart’s been heavy, if you’ve been searching for clarity or peace, I invite you to pause. Encounter Coaching is a one on one space where you can lay it all before Jesus and let him speak. Every encounter is different, but the outcome is always the same. Freedom, healing, and truth. Take the time. Give yourself this moment with the Father. The link is in the show notes.
Let me say this clearly, most people don’t start with confidence. They start afraid, knees knocking, voice shaking, heart pounding, and that’s okay. Fear is just false evidence appearing to be real. So ask yourself, who benefits from you being afraid? Not God. The enemy loves whispering you’re not good enough. Look what you did last week. Your past disqualifies you. God can’t use that. That’s an accusation. And Jesus, he’s not the accuser of the brethren. And when those thoughts come, don’t sit there and wallow in them. Don’t pet those demons. You cast them down. You bring them to the obedience of Christ. You line those words up with the word of God and ask, who’s the God that answers by fire? Because accusation does not come from heaven.
Let me be clear, I am not called to everybody, and I’m okay with that. Everybody is not called to the sound of my voice. Everybody won’t move just because I speak. They may not all be ready, they may not understand, and they won’t move, and that’s fine. Don’t throw your pearls to people who aren’t ready to receive them. When people say no, you bless them, and keep moving. But you don’t revert, you don’t go back, you don’t shrink, you keep doing what God called you to do. So here’s the moment, not dramatic, not loud, just an honest moment of decision. If you know God is calling you forward and you’re tired of circling the same mountain, and you’re ready to be located, not entertained, I invite you to book a discovery call. No pressure, no convincing. Just a conversation to see if alignment is there. And if it is, we move forward. If it’s not, you still lead with clarity.
If this episode resonated, don’t keep it to yourself. Like it. Share it. Leave a comment. Someone you know is standing at that decision point. Thank you for spending time with me. If this was helpful, like the episode, leave a comment, share it and subscribe, so we can keep walking this out together. And remember, you didn’t stumble on this by accident. God is very intentional, because you’ve been located by the Identity Midwife. I’ll see you next time.
Before you go, take one more breath. The same God who shaped you still sees you. Every scar, every tear, every wind, nothing about your story is wasted. Today, speak to your heart, share with another woman who needs a reminder that she’s not alone. And when you’re ready to go deeper, everything you need is waiting for you in the show notes. Until next time. I’m Kishea Boyd, The Identity Midwife. And daughter, you’ve been located.
